TRRN Stands for Temporary Return Reference Number. The TRRN is the ID number obtained by the EPFO for a payment transaction when a PF account holder or an employer makes an online payment toward the PF monthly contribution.

What is the TRRN Number?

TRRN is an abbreviation for Temporary Return Reference Number, which is used to check the status of PF Challan payments. This number allows you to check the status of your PF Challan payment and download it in PDF format without logging into the EPF portal.

How to Check TRRN Status

1. Open the link in the browser https://unifiedportal-epfo.epfindia.gov.in/ 
2. After entering the main website, enter your TRRN number in the box
3. Now, fill in the captcha as shown.
4. You can now see your TRRN status by clicking on the search button.

How to Check Old TRRN Status?

1. Go to https://www.epfindia.com/ to learn more about the Employer Provident Fund.
2. Click on the link “For Employers” in the Services Section, as shown below.
3. There are now two links in the Services Section: “TRRN Query (Up to December 2016)” and “EPFO Establishment Search / TRRN Query.”
4. If you want to see the status of your PF payment for which the challan was created prior to December 2016, you must click the link “TRRN Query (Up to December 2016)”.
5. To see the status of the PF Challan payment, enter your TRRN number and the captcha. The status can also be downloaded as a PDF.

How do you check the PF Submission Status by TRRN?

1. If you want to see the status of your PF payment for which the challan was generated prior to December 2016, you must click the link “TRRN Query (Up to December 2016)”.
2. To see the status of the PF Challan payment, enter your TRRN number and the captcha. The status can also be downloaded as a PDF.
3. To view the PF Challan payment status of a Challan prepared after December 2016, go to the services section and click the link “EPFO Establishment Search / TRRN Query.”
4. After clicking the link, you will be taken to the page shown below, where you must click on the TRRN Search Query link.
5. You will now be directed to a page where you must enter your TRRN as well as the Captcha and click the Search button.
6. When you click the search button, you will get the status of the PF Challan with the TRRN number you entered, as well as other information like the date the PF Challan was generated, the Establishment ID, and so on.
7. Below are the name of the establishment, Challan Type, Total Members, Amount, Payment Confirmation Bank, CRN, Date of Payment Confirmation, and a few other details. You can also download the payment receipt and the status of the PF Challan by clicking on the Download PDF button in the upper right corner.
8. Using the TRRN number, you can obtain the Provident Fund payment receipt and status.
