The Punjab State Ministry of Education has approved conducting 10th and 12th board exams twice a year, in February and April. Students who perform well in both exams will have their scores considered.
Additionally, higher education institutions will admit students twice a year. Starting from the 2025-2026 session, students will have the option to sit for both exams, with their best performance counted in the final score.
Two methods have been devised for conducting the exams twice a year: one is similar to the JEE, allowing students to take the exam twice, while the other approach involves conducting exams in semesters every six months.
However, it has been decided to initially proceed with the JEE-like pattern. This initiative aims to reduce students’ stress, offering them a chance to improve their performance and take the exam a second time if they fail initially.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has also announced that admissions to higher educational institutions will be conducted twice a year based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), eliminating the need for a separate exam for admission to the second session.
